Hello and welcome to Scrappy Sketches. There will be a new sketch every week to inspire your creativity for scrapbooking and cardmaking. I hope to encourage you to use your scrap stash in fabulously beautiful ways. Enjoy.

Mid Week Sketch 22-12

Another Wednesday ticks our year away... nearly half way now. I am looking back and wondering what I've done with it. I'm pleased to say that I have done one layout a week, at least, lol... That's one total advantage of doing a sketch per week. More of my family's story being told more regularly. And it's funny, but the more scrapping I do, the more easy it becomes to scrap and the less the mojo goes awol. One of those "use it or lose it" things I guess.

Anyway, hope you like this week's sketch. Another chance to use up some of your scrap stash and make pretty. If you have one large 5 x 7 photo it would be a good one for that, otherwise, use two like I did.

And my sample. I have to tell you that the purple circle is from one of the first scrapbooking papers I ever bought, about a hundred years ago, lol. Only some very small scraps left now, and I am going to turn them into some flowers or something I think, and be done with it.

I also used a whole heap of flowers that I have in my stash, just pulled out whatever would go with it and I think it turned out pretty well.

Until next week, happy scrapping girls, have fun.

Mid Week Sketch 21-12

Can you believe that I forgot it was Wednesday yesterday, lol? I spent the day swanning about the place, sorting and cleaning and fiddling about with various projects, and didn't give the actual day a thought! Just typical, when I was ahead of time with my layout too, and could have had it up at breakfast time! Funny :-) I only realised last night when my husband mentioned putting the bins out... Oh my gosh, I lost a day! Anyway, here is this week's sketch, and my sample. It's another good one for using up some off-cuts and scraps. Hope you like it.

Anyway, luckily, Jewels didn't forget what day it was and she kindly created a beautiful page using the sketch too, so you can see how easily it converts to another configuration of photos.

Mid Week Sketch 20-12

Hello and welcome to the fun, all my new followers. Lovely to see you all here.

Another double page this week. I was requested to do a few doubles, so I will be sprinkling them in a bit more regularly than before, for those of you who love them. If you only want to do a single page however, try the right hand half of this double, which should work for you just fine.

I have two samples for you this week. The first one comes from Jewels, one of the lovely DT members from Home and Scrapped, who whipped this one up in double quick time after a busy day at work.

And then my own sample page - my family trying to stand still for a photo a few months ago - kind of love the action, actually, although at the time I was after a nice portrait...

Happy scrapping, hope you like this weeks sketch, and that you get some lovely creative time this week to put something together. I look forward to seeing your creations in the linky thing.

Mid Week Sketch 19-12

I hope you realise that this means we have had 19 weeks of this year pass us by already... I don't dare blink or so much time will pass by... busy busy, lol.

Here is our new sketch for the week. A nice easy one to put together, no fuss and no time consuming stuff. Just a couple of nice pps, some fabulous embellishments and a couple of easy photos. One for the busy weeks :-)

And my sample... so envious of my daughter being able to wear a dress like that... not that I want to give up chocolate to get into it or anything ;-)

PS: Like my flowers? Find my handmade flowers in my MadeIt shop, Elsie & Grace and bag some for your own pages :-) I post anywhere in the world and will custom make to order if you don't see anything you like in the shop.

Mid Week Sketch 18-12

Well, here it is - our catch up sketch. It's a nice one for using up a few odd scraps from your stash. Ink, stitch, distress or doodle around the edges to give them definition or just leave them plain, it's up to you. There is also a nice "white space" area where you could do a little stamping or something to make your background sing a little more.

Don't forget you can add any embellishments instead of flowers (flowers are just easy for me to add). Try a row of cars, gears, stars, cupcakes or some autumn leaves for instance. They would all work just as well. Good luck hunting through your stash to use up some more of it all.

Here is the sketch, hope you like it.

And here is my sample page. Sorry about the photo - totally overcast here today, you'd think the sun had actually gone down already. I'm sure you get the idea though :-)

Mid Week Sketch 17-12

What was that I said last time? Just ignore me, I obviously don't know what I'm talking about. I missed a whole week! OK, last week's challenge today, and this week's challenge tomorrow :-) Then we will be all caught up, and we won't say anything about procrastination, lack of purpose, falling behind or any other naughty behaviour... OK?

And here is my sample.

Photos of me and my honey. You might notice that I've made my page to go with Sketch 13-12. I like that a lot of these sketches can go together to form double pages and tell a longer story.

You might also notice that I've used three 4x4 photos. This sketch will work with four 3x4 photos too, or a combination of one 4x6 and two 3x4. Use what you have and ruffle through some scrap pps and make it yours. Hope you like it.

Mid Week Sketch 16-12

OK, so the Mid Week Sketch has been a bit like someone on holiday lately, getting up later and later each day till they end up on the last day just staying in their pjs all day... The end of the week is here and so is, finally, this week's sketch. Next week back to work, dressed and ready to go bright and early with makeup on and all. ;-)

Here is my sample page, with a bit of added stitching:

and here is Sarah's page:

Mid Week Sketch 15-12

Can you believe another week has whipped by? I am really noticing the passage of this year, with doing a sketch every Wednesday. At least it's a good way to mark the passage of time, and a satisfying way to tick off the weeks. There are plenty of other ways that wouldn't thrill me nearly as much.

This week, Sarah from the DT at Home and Scrapped has made an example page for the sketch. Sarah has a great style, young and funky. Check out her blog Time To Myself for some fresh inspiration.

Here is the sketch for this week. You can team this up with last week's sketch for a double layout if you like - that's what I've done. They will both happily stand alone too. It's another good one for shopping your stash and using up some scrappy bits and pieces. Hope to see lots of lovely links :-)

Here is my example page:

And here is Sarah's example:

Until next Wednesday, enjoy your week and have some fun scrapping and being creative.

Mid Week Sketch 14-12

Here we are at week 14. It's interesting doing a sketch every week and seeing how fast the weeks whip by and it's Mid Week yet again. At least I am marking my weeks by doing at least one page. How are you liking the sketches? Enjoying them? Please feel free to leave me a comment, and let me know if you would like a sketch for something in particular, like 3 landscapes or a 5x7 or whatever. Would love to do one for you.

March Prize Winner

It was a bit of a quiet month for entries for the prize, so I decided to play knucklebones with the three entries instead of using my hat, just for some fun :-) Here is the result:

Congratulations Jewels, and thanks for joining in. That means that the last two flower packs have been won by Scrappers from Canada, how fabulous is that? I hope you love your flowers when they arrive.

Mid Week Sketch 13-12

OK, so it's a little past mid week... almost the weekend in fact, lol. You weren't going to actually scrap this on Wednesday night anyway, were you? Hope you think it's worth the wait :-)

And my example, which I love. You might think that I choose my photos and design a sketch for them, but I just do my sketching and then look for photos, so I am working the same way you are. Always a thrill when it works as well as this one. I hope you like it too. Wouldn't it make a nice one for a Mother's Day layout?

Mid Week Sketch 12-12

I have a double for you this week. One of my regular readers recently requested a multi-photo double and I am happy to oblige when I can, so here it is :-)

Photos of my two darlings lolling about during the Christmas holidays. Layout done almost entirely with scraps and things already precut. I love being able to use up some bits that need a home. In fact, I'm trying to do that a lot this year.

I have designed this layout so that you can also separate the two halves if you don't have enough photos to do a double. You could also use two larger photos on the left hand side, if that's what you have. Mix it up and make it yours. Get creative and have some fun.

Forgotten Bits

Goodness, three forgotten bits for the month and we're almost half way through already... sorry girls.

First, I forgot to make an InLinkz doovalacky for you all for March, but that is now in place on the side bar so you can share away as much as you like  :-)

Then I realised that I haven't drawn February's random draw winner from all the beautiful pages that you shared in February {{ooopsie}} I have written all the numbers on little pieces of paper, folded them and tossed them in a basket (no hats in sight...) and then dug my hand it to pull out: number 11 - Charlotte Brochu. Congratulations Charlotte, send me your address and I'll post off your flower pack :-) And congratulations to everyone else, you have done some absolutely beautiful pages and I just love seeing them all. I really appreciate you using my sketches and sharing your work on your blogs.

And then, there is the little matter of adding March's pretty prize to show you what you might win if you're the lucky one this month. To be in the draw you have to be one of my lovely followers, and make a page from one of the March sketches and link it here. So here it is, hope you like it.

The prize is a pack of paper flowers, leaves and doilies and a cute butterfly, all handmade by me with quality scrapbooking papers and the help of some pretty dies and punches. Don't you just love those little apple blossom type flowers? They're my new ones.  :-)  If you like what you see here, check out my Made It page, where I have lots of packs for sale in a rainbow of colours and in several sizes.
