Mid Week Sketch 10-12

Mid week again - there's nothing like a regular once a week event to make you realise that we are slipping through the year - March already! For me in Australia, that means it's officially Autumn, although it might take a while to actually feel like it in Brisbane. It doesn't matter, every season is good for creativity, and there is always something to inspire the juices to flow, no matter what the weather.

My sketch this week is for 2 landscape orientation photos, or for one large portrait photo. Or maybe 4 smaller ones... I used two that were taken when my son came for Christmas, although as you can see, I didn't opt for Christmassy colours at all :-)

Hope you like my sketch. Come back next week for another one :-)

Mid Week Sketch 9-12

Here is a pretty sketch for you, nice and easy and with Twinchies down the side (2 inch pieces of art you can create any way you like), just for some added fun. If you haven't done Twinchies before, just google some Twinchie images and you will get the idea.

And here is the gorgeous layout sample, from Home and Scrapped DT member Jewels:

Have fun :-)

Mid Week Sketch 8-12

A nice little sketch today for 2 small landscape orientation photos - or use one larger portrait one if that's what you have. There is plenty of scope for some nice embellishing, and you can put in a little stitching for some visual texture too.

And my sample, taken in bad lighting because the baby cried half the day and I couldn't get to it in daylight...

I'm loving those little stitches I did... might do a little tutorial for them tomorrow (in good light, lol).

And here is a page from Sarah, one of the wonderful Creative Design Team members at Home and Scrapped, the bestest little scrapbooking forum on the internet:

Mid Week Sketch 7-12

Another week, another sketch :-) This one is pretty quickly put together with some bits and pieces you might have laying about the scrap stash, and with a little bit of white space you can either use a pretty background paper or do a little misting for something a bit different. Use the 2 photos as suggested, or one 4x6. Hope you like it.

And here's my sample page. It's one of those one's I'm not entirely happy with, because the photos are too dark really, but I liked them anyway. They can't all be perfect I guess, and sometimes you just want to use them anyway. It's not a great photo either, the flowers came out too blue compared to the real thing, but oh well... you get days like that... having said all that, lol, here it is:

Mid Week Sketch 6-12

I know, a day late again... just couldn't make it happen yesterday. Hope you think it's worth the wait :-)

Love pink and orange together, and I kind of hoard bits of pink and orange paper. I don't have much, but I can be a bit reluctant to use them sometimes. Do you ever do that? I am trying to get over it and use the bits I love, otherwise what's the point of having them? LOL... silly I know. Anyway, here is my sample page, with some pink and orange to brighten my day.

January Sketches Winner

Hi girls, I have chosen a winner for the January prize draw. I saw this idea on a blog somewhere else and thought it was a good one, so I did it too. I printed out everyone's linky pic and cut them all out and placed them in a pot.

Then I rummaged around in it with my eyes shut (everyone else had just left the house, of course, just when you need someone, lol!) and pulled out:

Congratulations Leesa, and thank you everyone for linking up such great pages, I just love them all and I love seeing them up here for added inspiration. Leesa, if you let me know your address I will send you your prize pack. stormscraps (at) live.com.au

Keep up the good work girls, you can still upload January sketch pages for a while yet, so get them done and share them, I love seeing them there and being inspired by your creativity.

There is another pretty prize for February, since I am in the flower making mood :-)  Put up a link to any pages you do from the February sketches and be a follower and you are in the draw :-)

Mid Week Sketch 5-12

A little later than mid week, but still not the end of the week.... sorry about that.

Inchies in this one, little one inch works of art or simple decoration, although you could use any other small embellishments instead. It's up to you whether you interpret the circles as double circles or a ring, either would work well. I have also left the journaling space out of this one, and I look forward to seeing where you want to put it - around the circles, in the space under the title, in the place of one of the photos, or somewhere else? And you could put a 4x6 photo instead of the two upright 3x4s... There's room here for a lot of variety I think. Hope you like it.

My sample shows my health conscious son, doing some weight lifting. He had had a broken hand and was trying to build up his (apparently) lazy muscles again. Looked like hard work to me, it hurt my wrists just to watch, lol, but he's always been very strong and resilient.

Become a follower and link your page to the new February linky before the end of February to go in the draw to win a little RAK from me (picture to follow).

Mid Week Sketch 4-12

Hello and welcome to another Mid Week Sketch on Scrappy Sketches :-) This one is a great one for using up some scraps, or perhaps breaking into that kit of matching papers that has been sitting around. Either way, you just need a few strips to make a great layout to show off a gorgeous picture and have another story told.

Here it is, and my sample page for you:

As you can see, you can vary the strips to suit what you have. I pulled these from my scrap file, and just used what I had. I'm looking forward to seeing what you can do with this.

Remember, if you follow me and post a link, you go into the draw to win a little prize (which I recently added something to, so there are even more flowers in it now!) - get your entries in by the end of January to qualify.

Mid Week Sketch 3-12

Have you been waiting for it? I am starting to get used to Wednesday being sketch day now, and liking the regularity. I was a bit slow at my page this week though and only finished it this morning instead of being all ready and organised. Not that it matters, in the end, but I do like being organised.

When I do a sketch, I just sit and play till it looks right to me, then I go off and do my page. So it's kind of as fresh for me as it is for you. I liked this one, and I was brave and used a few bold pps that I wouldn't normally use for myself. Red! I never use red for me, lol... my daughter loves red, but I've always avoided it. I won't now, red is now on my list ;-)

So here is the sketch. It's another good one for using up a few random bits of leftover stash and bring them all together with some good embellishments.

And here is my sample page for you. I used quite a few bits and pieces gifted to me by scrapping friends on this page, through swaps or little packages of prettiness sent through the mail just because. I love having my far flung friends on my pages. Thanks girls.

Remember, if you do the linky thing and become a follower this month, you go in the draw to win a little flower pack from me.

Mid Week Sketch 2-12

Hello girls, I hope your week is being kind to you. Mine is being hot, but today is much nicer already.

First let me apologise for the whole lack of linky thing... can you believe I got sidetracked for a week? No, me either, but it happened... doing it today!

This week's sketch needs two 4x4 photos, nice and easy and fun to do. Hope you like it. Link back here with your photo, I would love to see what you are doing.

and this is the fun photos I had for it - she's a wild child, LOL.

**I have now added the new inlinkz tool, so you can add your pages when they're done! Exciting stuff (for a non techy like me, LOL). The tools are on the right hand column, and I would just love you to share your pages there.

Mid Week Sketch 1-12

Are you ready for the first Scrappy Sketch of 2012? I hope you like it.

and here is the page that I made from the sketch

I glimmermisted and stamped my background page, then inked the edges before I started my layers, for a bit of added depth. Love that old button, it came from an antique shop.

Link your page using the InLinkz button below and become a follower for your chance to win this prize of my handmade flowers.

New Ideas

Hello my lovely scrappy friends. I hope you had a happy Christmas with the people you love, or at least, with the knowledge that they love you back, even if you couldn't be together. I hope this new year is kind to you, and that you get to enjoy lots of wonderful moments in it.

I have a plan for this year, that involves your creativity and mine. I hope you like it.

So here's how it will work. There will be a new Scrappy Sketches sketch posted here every Wednesday. You have a week to do the page and link it right here on Scrappy Sketches, or post it on the Home and Scrapped forum or the new Home and Scrapped Facebook page. Just remember to say what it is.

Then we will employ random generation to find one lucky person to win a prize pack of some of my handmade flowers. Photo coming of that, sorry it's not done already... I knew there was something I was meant to do tonight, but the movie was rather good. ;-) So yes, we are moving away from random posts and becoming more organised. That has to be better for us all, lol! Heaps more pages done, and who knows, maybe some pretty new flowers to play with.
